Social Media with GoldMine's GM+View - Basics

Did You Know…that GoldMine can show Social Media information (i.e. LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.) for your contacts and accounts?
When working with an account, it is valuable sometimes to be able to visit the account’s Social Media outlets.
Many companies and/or their employees use Social Media to post news and updates that can be valuable to business partners (and potential business partners).
Today’s post will demonstrate a very simple way to leverage GoldMine’s GM+View feature to instantly gain access to LinkedIn (other Social Media sites will be similar) information on an ongoing basis. Our method, while quite simplistic, should give our readers an idea of what is possible with GoldMine.
What you need:
- LinkedIn identifier for each company/contact.
For example, the full LinkedIn URL for Anton Systems is http://www.linkedin.com/company/anton-systems-inc. Anton Systems’ LinkedIn identifier is therefore anton-systems-inc..
- A designated field in GoldMine to store the unique Social Media identifier. For our example, we use the custom field ULINKEDIN
How to Setup GM+View to Show LinkedIn Information
- Go to Web >> Setup GM+View…
- In the Template List, click the New button
- Enter a name for the GM+View template (e.g. LinkedIn)
- Click on the <H> icon in the new window to switch to the HTML view
- Clear all existing text in the window and paste the following HTML code:

- Click the Save
button and then close the window by clicking the “X” to the upper-right
- Click OK to close the main GM+View Tab Settings window
The Result:
- Switch records (sometimes this is needed)
- Go to the GM+View tab and select the LinkedIn GM+View from the dropdown on the right.
With a few more clicks, you can get the webpage available from GM+Browser as well.
