Who Should Attend
This course is designed for those users that will be providing on-going set-up and administration of the GoldMine Software and for its IT staff that needs a comprehensive understanding of GoldMine, from learning how to use basic features to understanding how to create and maintain business processes using GoldMine’s advanced features to GoldMine System Administration and Management. This course assumes you are familiar with Microsoft Windows operating system and can manipulate windows and launch and close applications.

Course Description and Objectives
This 4-day instructor lead course is positioned to flow from fundamentals directly into the administration of GoldMine, focusing on key workflow elements and business processes. Lessons typically are presented in a logical, task-oriented sequence which more closely replicates business practices. Manuals and reference materials are included with the course.

This four day session will teach you how to Understand GoldMine Fundamentals including the following:

  • Review GoldMine’s key features and navigate the work area.
  • Find, add, and work with contacts by adding additional contacts, alerts, swapping the additional contact with the primary contact, entering details and referrals, and an assortment of other activities.
  • Schedule activities, create appointments on the calendar, and use the Activity List to view and complete activities.
  • The set-up and use of Case Management for Customer Service and Support
  • Organize sets of data by sorting and building organizational charts. Learn to activate and release predefined filters and groups.
  • Use the communication tools of e-mail and mail merge to communicate to customers and potential customers and develop the Information Center where you can build an archive of information.
  • Learn how to use the features of GoldMine to communicate with your colleagues in the home office, remote offices, or when traveling.
  • An introduction to Opportunity Manager and Project Manager, Automated Processes, and GoldMine standard reports.
  • Review user preferences and customize your own toolbars, taskbar and work area background.

Understand Advanced Features including the following:

  • Learn how to configure GoldMine for your specific work environment. You will learn how to; set up users, user groups, security and resources; design and create screens and customize tabs with fields and labels; and, create macros.
  • The business process design continues with the creation of form documents that are stored in the Document Management Center and the Literature Fulfillment Center.
  • You can design your business processes and workflow by customizing GoldMine’s E-Mail Center; creating e-mail, MS Word and opportunity templates; telemarketing scripts.
  • Create subsets of the GoldMine database using filters, groups and SQL Queries.
  • As time goes on, you will manage your data in GoldMine using filters or groups to create subsets in order to export and move data, realign sales territories, and globally replace field values.
  • Merge/purge and delete Contact Records.
  • Creating automated processes to streamline and carry out repetitive tasks is critical to your business process analysis and workflow design.
  • With all this data accumulating in GoldMine, you can analyze defined quotas and sales forecasts.
  • You can review sales performance as well as statistical and leads data for individual and team performance.
  • Set five GoldMine processes to run in the background. GoldMine can send queued e-mails, print queued documents, run Automated Processes, synchronize with Outlook, and run GoldSync.
  • Import data from existing data sources. You may have a need to export data and copy data between Contact Sets.

Understand GoldMine System Administration and Management including the following:

  • Maintaining GoldMine: re-indexing, re-building, purging.
  • Licensing in GoldMine and NetUpdate.
  • Creating field views & user-defined fields.
  • Creating Lookup entries.
  • Creating detail screens.
  • Adding users, user-groups, and setting securities.
  • Table structure of GoldMine.
  • Identifying Information stored in Details, Pending and History.
  • Updating fields instantly using the lookup.ini.
